One person in stable condition following crash of small plane on Kamloops Lake

Plane crash near Tobiano

UPDATE: 11:57 a.m.

The pilot and single occupant of a small plane that went down on Kamloops Lake swam to shore with minor injuries after the crash, according to police.

Kamloops RCMP said they received a report on Wednesday at 9 a.m. of a small plane upside down in Kamloops Lake.

The crash occurred near Frederick Road, across Kamloops Lake from the Tobiano area.

RCMP said the initial report was made by a CN Rail employee.

Along with ambulance crews, members from Kamloops RCMP, the Tk’emlups rural RCMP detachment, Search and Rescue and the Kamloops RCMP boat responded.

The lone occupant of the plane was transported by ambulance to the hospital for assessment.

BC Emergency Health Services confirmed the person was in stable condition.

“Since then, the plane has been moved to a safe spot in the water,” the RCMP said.

“Police are investigating. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.”

One person has been taken to hospital following a small plane crash near Kamloops Lake on Wednesday morning.

According to BC Emergency Health Services, a call came in just after 9:30 a.m. for a report of a plane overturned in the water near Frederick Road, across Kamloops Lake from the Tobiano area.

“One patient was transported to Savona Cemetery Road, where they were met by our paramedic crew,” BC EHS said in a statement emailed to Castanet Kamloops.

BC EHS said the person is in stable condition.
