Thompson Cleaners and Tailors offering free laundry services for wildfire evacuees

A Sahali dry cleaning business is offering free laundry services for fire evacuees.

A post to Thompson Cleaners and Tailors Facebook page announced the initiative, saying they would like to thank Kamloops for their support that enables the business to help others.

Owner Alex Zalmai said his shop has been doing laundry for evacuees from Lytton since the beginning of July.

“We had some evacuees here, so I saw the need and I started doing that,” Zalmai told Castanet.

When people started fleeing wildfires from other places around the province, Zalmai said he wanted to extend the offer to others.

“When we see there’s a need in the community, we do step in," he said.

"And we do as much as we can to help others feel good.”
