Kamloops RCMP seize drugs from car with expired insurance

Cops find 'kidnapping kit'

Kamloops RCMP seize more than 200 grams of drugs after stopping a vehicle for expired insurance.

On Wednesday night police say officers pulled over a vehicle at Columbia Street and Hwy 1 for expired insurance.

Mounties said while they were dealing with the driver, they saw weapons inside the car.

The cars occupants were detained while officers investigated further.

“Further investigation revealed what appeared to be a ‘kidnapping kit’ which included a ball gag, zap straps, and duct tape; weapons, cash, and numerous quantities of suspected heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn.

The items were taken by police and the suspects were released at the scene.

The driver of the car was ticketed for not having insurance and the vehicle was towed.
