Downtown Boston Pizza closed for good; Sahali location still open

Boston Pizza won't reopen

A Victoria Street fixture for nearly five decades is no more.

The Boston Pizza restaurant in downtown Kamloops closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and will not reopen.

Signs are hanging in the windows of the restaurant at 340 Victoria St. indicating the space is for lease. Realtor Ross Spina, whose name is on the signs, said they went up within the last couple weeks.

The downtown Boston Pizza closed in March of 2020, when most businesses were forced to shutter early on in the pandemic. When the Boston Pizza location on Notre Dame Drive reopened a few months later, the downtown restaurant remained closed.

Castanet has requested more information from the ownership group behind both Kamloops locations. It is not yet known if plans are in the works for a new Boston Pizza elsewhere in the city.

Boston Pizza first opened on the 300-block of Victoria Street in 1976. The Sahali location, 700-500 Notre Dame Dr., opened in the late 1990s.
