Clearwater Mayor Merlin Blackwell took this photo of transport trucks parking in the North Thompson last week, after floods and slides closed B.C.'s highway connections between the Lower Mainland and the Interior.
Truckers are being asked to stop in Kamloops to wait for word on when Highway 3 might reopen.
DriveBC issued a travel advisory on Friday asking drivers to stay put in Kamloops “to prevent excessive congestion in Merritt.”
Highway 3 is closed between Princeton and Hope. The highway has been the only domestic link for commercial trucks to move between the Lower Mainland and the Interior since historic flooding last week crippled B.C.’s highway infrastructure.
The next update on Highway 3 is expected at 3 p.m. Truckers have been told to expect an update on their situation at 5 p.m.
