Casimir wants input from Tk'emlups band members ahead of Vatican meeting with Pope

Chief wants input for Pope

T’kemlups te Secwepemc is asking for input from the band community regarding what Chief Rosanne Casimir should relay to Pope Francis during her upcoming meeting with him at the Vatican.

The band announced it would be holding a community event to discus the Vatican delegation taking place next month.

On Monday, community members and elders are invited to join in the discussion at Moccasin Square Garden between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The band is asking attendees come prepared with a statement or comment they would like to be carried forward to the Vatican.

T’kemlups said the event will be a hybrid in-person and Microsoft Teams virtual meeting. Those who wish to attend virtually should email [email protected] for the link.

To attend the in-person event, guests must show proof of vaccination and follow all COVID-19 protocols.

Casimir is one of 13 delegates going to Rome next month, for a one-hour meeting with Pope Francis on Dec. 20.

The Kamloops chief will be representing B.C. and will be joined by 12 other delegates including elders, residential school survivors and youth.
