Resort to host freestyle ski competition Sun Peaks Canada Cup this week

Skiers compete at Sun Peaks

Freestyle skiers from across Canada will be heading to Sun Peaks Resort this weekend to compete in the Sun Peaks Canada Cup.

According to a news release from Sun Peaks Freestyle Club, the Sun Peaks Canada Cup, presented by Toyo Tires, will be happening from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3.

“This is an incredible opportunity for SPFC and Sun Peaks Resort to host athletes along with coaches and officials, many of whom are themselves former Olympic and national athletes, from across Canada,” the club said.

“Please help us give these athletes, coaches and officials a warm welcome as we showcase what our beautiful resort has to offer.”

According to the club, athletes will train on Monday and Tuesday, with a slope style competition scheduled for Wednesday and a big air competition on Thursday.

The club said Canada Cup events are a national circuit sanctioned by Freestyle Canada, preparing athletes to compete at the international level.
