Police probe baton beating

Mounties are looking into a violent Sahali assault last weekend in which the victim was struck repeatedly with a baton.

Police were called to the 700-block of Columbia Street West just before 7:30 p.m. for a report of an assault. RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said the report was that a man was being beaten with a baton.

“Police located the victim, who was uncooperative,” she said.

“He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Evelyn said a witness described the assailant as a male in dark clothing, standing approximately five-foot-11.

Anyone with information about the attack can call police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
