Clearwater emergency room closed for second night due to staffing issues, IH says

Clearwater ER closed again

The emergency department at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater will be closed for the second evening in a row due to limited staff availability.

According to a statement from Interior Health, the Clearwater emergency room — which is normally open 24/7 — will be closed from 4 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday.

The health authority said the closure is “due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.”

Residents are advised to call 911 or visit the emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital if they need emergency assistance while Clearwater’s department is closed.

Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital’s emergency room was also shuttered from 11 p.m. Saturday night until 7 a.m. Sunday due to staffing issues.
