BC Wildfire Service crews pressed into flood prep work in Savona

Flood protection is being installed along Kamloops Lake in Savona.

With river levels rising in the Kamloops area, proactive flood protection measures are being taken downstream in Savona.

BC Wildfire Service crews and Thompson-Nicola Regional District staff will be in the community Thursday installing flood protection measures along Buie Street.

The work is being done based on the potential for the level of Kamloops Lake to rise over the coming days and weeks, due to a combination of rain and melting snowpack.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area around Buie Street while the crews are installing the flood protections.
