Investigation of complaints against two senior staff members delayed again, TRU says

TRU investigation delayed

The ongoing investigation by Thompson Rivers University's board of governors into alleged wrongdoing on the part of two senior administrators has been delayed once again, according to the university.

Matt Milovick, TRU's vice-president of finance and administration, and Larry Phillips, the university’s former associate vice-president of people and culture, are under investigation for serious allegations including harassment and misogyny following numerous complaints.

The investigation was initially expected to finish by March 31, according to TRU, the investigation continued past the estimated end date because additional witnesses needed to be interviewed. In April, the university said it expected to receive the investigation report with in two to three months.

According to the university, the report is now anticipated to be completed by the fall.

“Independent investigators were expected to have completed their work in the summer; however, one investigator was appointed to the bench as a provincial court judge and consequently has had to cease his involvement in the conduct of the investigation,” TRU said in a statement.

“To ensure that the investigation can be completed in a timely manner, another investigator has been added.”
