Organizers of 55+ Games still looking for volunteers

Games volunteers needed

Thousands of athletes and supporters will be in Kamloops next week for the 2022 Canada 55+ Games, and organizers are still looking for volunteers to help make sure the event runs smoothly.

The event will run from Aug. 23 to Aug. 26 — Tuesday to Friday next week. Participants will compete in 26 official events ranging from bowling and hockey to swimming and bridge.

Organizers estimate 5,000 visitors will be in the city next week for the event.

“We are encouraging all of our local restaurants and attractions to staff up and be prepared for a major influx of visitors throughout the week,” Tourism Kamloops’ Lisa Strachan said in a news release.

“This is going to be a fun-filled week of competitions, socialization and special events.”

The event kicks off with an opening ceremony at the Tournament Capital Centre on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the games can email [email protected] or phone 250-828-3283.
