Loon Lake landline outage prompts 911 advice from E-Comm

Home phone service outage

With a TELUS landline service outage impacting the Loon Lake area, emergency service operator E-Comm took to social media to advise residents what to do if they need help from first responders.

In a social media post, E-Comm said in the event of a life-threatening emergency, residents should try dialling 911 in case service is restored.

If there is still no service, E-Comm said residents should head to the doctor, police detachment or fire department if they are able.

According to TELUS’ outage map, properties in the Loon Lake area — located north of Cache Creek — have been without home phone service since just before 5 p.m.

The cause of the home phone outage is under investigation, but TELUS said there is a suspected hardware issue.

“Service technicians are on-site and [an] investigation is underway. There is currently no estimated time of restoration,” the website said.
