Ride-share service offers guaranteed cash, signing bonuses to attract new drivers

Uride needs more drivers

A ride-sharing service that launched in Kamloops earlier this year is once again sweetening the pot in an attempt to attract new drivers, offering bonuses and guaranteed earnings for those looking to get behind the wheel.

Uride launched on June 3 in the Tournament Capital. The service is now up and running in Kamloops and Kelowna, as well as a number of communities in Ontario.

According to a news release sent out by the company on Wednesday, an influx of users is expected in the coming weeks as Thompson Rivers University’s student population returns to Kamloops.

Uride said it is offering new full-time drivers a $7,000 guarantee for their first four weeks. Part-time drivers are eligible for $700 signing bonuses.

The company said it will also cover start-up costs associated with licensing, background checks and commercial vehicle inspections.

“We have been blown away by the interest in our services from the people of Kamloops,” Ravi Dhami, Uride’s operations manager for Western Canada, said in the release.

“We are taking the necessary steps to reduce our wait times and to provide exceptional service to our customers. We pride ourselves as a safe, reliable and affordable transportation provider and bringing more drivers onto our platform is out key focus at this point in time.”

Uride previously offered similar revenue guarantees and signing bonuses in June.
