Investigation of complaints against two senior staff members delayed again, TRU says

Investigation delayed again

The ongoing investigation by Thompson Rivers University's board of governors into alleged wrongdoing on the part of two senior administrators has been delayed a third time, according to the university.

Matt Milovick, TRU's vice-president of finance and administration, and Larry Phillips, the university’s former associate vice-president of people and culture, are under investigation for serious allegations including harassment and misogyny following numerous complaints.

The investigation was originally expected to finish by March 31, according to the university. Since then, the investigation has been delayed twice.

In June, TRU said a report would be completed by the fall and that an addition investigator had been added to ensure the investigation was concluded in a timely matter.

On Friday, the university announced it is now expecting the investigations conclusion in November.

“While the process is taking some months to move towards completion, the board believes that the investigators are moving forward as expeditiously as possible while adhering to their mandate to conduct a careful and thorough investigation,” the university said in a statement.

“At present, the subcommittee hopes that the investigators will be able to provide a report of their findings by November.”
