Police say five people in custody after gunshots reported near TRU

5 arrested after shooting

UPDATE: 12:20 p.m.

Police now have five people in custody in relation to this morning's shooting in Sahali.

RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said officers responded to the 700-block of McGill Road just before 8 a.m. for reports of shots fired as well as guns seen in the area.

“Multiple members responded and updates were able to track several suspects,” Evelyn said.

“Right now there are approximately five people in police custody as part of this investigation.”

According to Evelyn, RCMP believe the incident was targeted and there is no threat to public safety at this time.

“At this point, everybody who is involved in this incident is believed to be in police custody right now,” she said.

Evelyn said it is still early in the investigation and residents are asked to remain away from the scene to allow officers to work.

Police say three people were arrested Friday morning after reports of gunshots.

At about 7:41 a.m., Mounties said they responded to 700-block of McGill Road, for a report of shots fired and guns observed.

Police said their investigation led them to find suspects at various locations.

The RCMP is asking the public to avoid the area. A large police presence remains in Sahali. Police said frontline officers and support units, including the Police Dog Service, continue to investigate.

“It is still extremely early, but at this moment, no one has been located with injuries related to this report,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.
