Multiple voting options for residents in six TNRD areas holding director elections, TNRD says

Elections in six TNRD areas

Residents in the six Thompson-Nicola Regional District areas holding elections for the position of director will be able to cast votes through mail or on advanced voting days in addition to general voting day on Oct. 15.

Deanna Campbell, TNRD chief election officer, said in a statement staff want to ensure all residents in these areas know if they are eligible to vote, and where and when they can vote.

“We want voting to be as accessible as possible, and our TNRD elections staff are available to help voters who have questions,” Campbell said.

According to the TNRD, elections will be held in six regions: Electoral Area A (Wells Grey Country); Electoral Area E (Bonaparte Plateau); Electoral Area I (Blue Sky Country); Electoral Area J (Copper Desert Country); Electoral Area L (Grasslands) and Electoral Area P (Rivers and the Peaks).

Directors will be acclaimed in four electoral areas — B, M, N and O.

Campbell said mail ballot voting is available for all eligible voters in TNRD elections.

Applications to receive a mail ballot can be accessed online or in-person at the TNRD Civic Building office.

“Applications take only a couple of minutes to fill out on our website,” Campbell said.

“Voting at polling stations will be accessible for all voters, but we do encourage residents to take advantage of voting by mail ballot if this option is convenient for them.”

Advanced voting for all electoral areas holding an election will take place on Oct. 5, 2022, and Oct. 12, 2022, on the fourth floor of the TNRD Civic Building.

This location will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Advanced polling stations will also be available in Electoral Area I on Oct. 6, Electoral Area E on Oct. 7, and Electoral Area A on Oct. 14.

General Voting Day is on Oct. 15, 2022, and polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. in electoral areas where an election has been declared.

Voting locations for each electoral area are listed here.

More information on the elections can be found on the TNRD website.
