Man hit with pickup truck as part of rural assault, police say

Hit by truck on purpose?

Police are investigating an incident in which they believe a man was struck with a pickup truck as part of an assault.

Mounties said they were called to the 1600-block of Lac le Jeune Road just after 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 for a report of a crashing sound followed by yelling.

“On scene, officers located one man with minor injuries,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

“According to the investigation, the victim was involved in a dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation. He was then allegedly assaulted with bear spray before being struck by an older-model green pickup truck.”

Evelyn said another vehicle was also damaged during the incident.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
