
The Tournament Capital’s Kelly Olynyk made his debut Sunday as a member of the Utah Jazz.
Olynyk was held scoreless with six rebounds and one assist at Rogers Place in Edmonton, where the Jazz fell 114-82 to the Toronto Raptors in exhibition action. It was the first game of the preseason for both teams.
The 31-year-old is entering his 10th season in the NBA. A product of South Kamloops secondary who then starred at Gonzaga, the seven-footer was traded to Utah on Sept. 22.
The Jazz will be Olynyk’s fifth NBA team. He has previously played for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons. Over his career, he has averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 36.5 per cent from three-point range.
Olynyk married his longtime partner Jackie McNulty over the summer.
The Jazz will kick off their regular season Oct. 19 at home against the Denver Nuggets.
