Overcast skies, some precipitation this week in Kamloops

Cloudy, rainy but mild week

Kamloops will see dreary weather conditions this week, with small chances of flurries and mostly overcast skies.

Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Erven said the city can expect to see mild conditions until the weekend, with highs in the low single digits for most of the week.

“We do have some very, very weak disturbances kind of coming through for Monday night, Tuesday night — so you do have a chance of flurries in the forecast," she told Castanet Kamloops.

"But, it's only a 40 per cent chance for Monday night [and] Tuesday. I reckon that maybe even Tuesday night might see a 30 per cent or 40 per cent chance of flurries as well. For Wednesday and Thursday, looking quite nice — pretty seasonal temperatures.”

Monday will see overcast skies with winds up to 15 km/h, with a high of 0 C and a low of -3 C. Tuesday's forecast calls for cloudy skies with a high of 2 C and a low of -2 C.

”But the I guess the major swing in the weather is that once we get into the weekend, we're looking at temperatures dropping off quite a bit," Erven said.

"Our overnight lows getting down to -10 C or so starting Saturday night and continuing into early the following week."

A drop in temperatures is expected Thursday night or Friday, with precipitation to accompany the change.

Cloudy skies are expected to to remain for most of the weekend.

Averages for Kamloops this time of year are highs slightly below freezing and lows of about -7 C.
