Traffic flowing on Highway 97 in Monte Creek after serious crash

Traffic is once again getting through on Highway 97 near Monte Creek after a collision Tuesday morning had the stretch closed for hours.

According to DriveBC, traffic was getting through in both directions as of 4:30 p.m.

“Scene mostly cleared, traffic being allowed through,” the agency said.

“Flaggers to be on scene controlling traffic through the night and until vehicle removal.”

UPDATE: 11:55 a.m.

Traffic is being rerouted through Barnhartvale after a serious collision Tuesday morning closed Highway 97 in both directions near the Highway 1 interchange.

According to DriveBC, a detour is available vis Barnhartvale Road.

Drivers are being told to expect delays.

Emergency crews are dealing with a serious collision that has Highway 97 closed in both directions near the Highway 1 interchange east of Kamloops.

According to DriveBC, the highway is closed approximately two kilometres east of Monte Creek.

Emergency crews from Kamloops and Chase were called to the area just before 11 a.m.
