A 16-year-old boy is clinging to life and his family is hoping for answers after he was stabbed in Kelowna.

Police officers surrounded a parking lot near Water Street and Bernard Avenue on June 27, just before midnight and found a teenager in medical distress.

Robyn-Iain Beauregard says his son Elijah-Iain Beauregard was stabbed and remains in Kelowna General Hospital fighting for his life.

“It's very overwhelming,” he says. “It's not looking good.”

His son, who is also known as Eli, is a Kelowna resident.

Beauregard and Eli’s mother are both by his side at the hospital and are pleading with anyone who witnessed what happened to contact police.

RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said one person was taken into police custody, but was since released. Police believe the suspect and victim were known to each other and the stabbing was a result of a dispute.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kelowna RCMP and cite file number 2019-37951.
