Multiple patients reported as city bus, SUV collide in Kelowna

At least 2 hurt in bus crash

UPDATE 11:10 a.m.

At least two people sustained significant injuries Friday night in a BC Transit bus crash in Kelowna. 

A passenger of the bus tells Castanet roughly 10 people were on board the bus when it collided with an SUV.

“There were a lot of people thrown from their seats,” the passenger said, explaining two people were taken to hospital by ambulance. 

The condition of the occupants of the SUV and the cause of the crash is unknown. 

“I was on my phone, but I felt the impact and the bus went careening off the side of the road."

Police, fire and paramedics all attended the crash.

"BC Transit is aware of a vehicle incident on Enterprise Way Friday evening, and is supporting the investigation by Kelowna RCMP," BC Transit said in a statement to Castanet.

"As it is an active police investigation, further details will need to come from the Kelowna RCMP. BC Transit will undertake an internal investigation as part of our standard safety protocol."

The Kelowna RCMP has not responded to request for comment.

A city bus collided with an SUV on slippery streets in Kelowna Friday night.

The crash happened about 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Dilworth Drive and Enterprise Way.

The severity of the collision is not known at this time, or if any serious injuries were involved.

However, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene.

Multiple patients were reported.
