Okanagan Symphony hopes to provide a 'modified' 2021 season

Symphony goes virtual

If all goes well, the Okanagan Symphony Society hopes to hold a "modified" season in 2021.

An official announcement on what the season will look like will be made Dec. 10, and is dependent on COVID-19 guidelines from the provincial health office.

In a  news release Monday, the OSO says the 2021 season is scheduled to include a modified Okanagan Symphony Youth Orchestra program, online lectures and workshops, and a season of live concerts and live-streamed events from February through May.

The society says it came up with the program following months of uncertainty, deliberations and conversations.

“We have a complex organization to manage and support. From our musicians, staff, contractors, patron, donors, funders and volunteers," said president Judy Burns.

"Meeting the needs of the three diverse communities we serve also adds another layer of complexity. We know that many organizations such as ours are challenged in this uncertain time of Covid-19.

"To reach an understanding with our musicians in how we can deliver our music and best serve our communities, brings the organization to a place of great joy.”
