The deadline to renew business licences in Kelowna is Jan. 15

Time to renew your licence

It's getting to be that time of year again, when businesses in Kelowna need to think about renewing their business licence for another year.

City officials say renewals are now in the mail as the Jan. 15 renewal deadline approaches.

In an effort to make the process easier, the city says it has moved business licencing to its enhanced online system.

Business licence manager Greg Wise business licencing has been added to the city's online Property Account system, the same system residents use to manage property taxes and utility accounts.

The city has included a brochure with step-by-step instructions as part of the renewal package.

Those businesses with inter-community mobile licences will be renewed automatically on a yearly basis.

“These online tools are a clear example of how we are enhancing our services for residents and business customers, by making it easier, more convenient and accessible to do business with us,” said Wise. “

With COVID-19 and the current recommendations for physical distancing, knowing that you can effectively complete transactions with the city online from the safety of your home or office is not only a convenience, but a comfort.”

A business licence is required to own, or operate a business within the city.

A $25 late fee will be tacked on to all licences renewed after the Jan. 15 deadline.
