All adult curling leagues at Kelowna Curling Club shut down by provincial order

Adult curling shut down

A provincial health order banning all adult sports has reached the curling community.

The Kelowna Curling Club announced all adult leagues have been shut down effective 3:30 this afternoon.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced the order Wednesday evening, but the list of adult sports ordered to cease did not include curling.

It now does.

A newsletter sent out by the Kelowna Curling Club Thursday states only adult leagues are affected by the ban.

Practice ice is suspended until the club is able to get more clarification from the provincial health office.

Tuesday and Saturday youth leagues and the senior open house Monday's are still a go.

The restaurant, lounge, office and pro shop also remain open.

“We know the restrictions put an added burden on what is an already difficult time for all of us, but they are what is required right now,” Dr. Henry said in her release Tuesday.

“Despite the fatigue, let’s stand strong against this virus. We are asking everyone in B.C. to please do a bit more right now and help everyone to see us through to the light ahead.”
