UPDATE 12:04 p.m.
Interior Health Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers has said a miscommunication by Interior Health led to teachers expecting to be vaccinated this weekend.
“Through a miscommunication by Interior Health, the school district began organizing teachers to be immunized starting this weekend. We thank the school district for their quick response and for their support throughout the past year. Unfortunately, the communication was an error and we apologize for the confusion. We recognize some staff may be disappointed to learn of this postponement, but school district staff remain prioritized among the provincial immunization plan and we look forward to resuming these immunizations in the near future,” said Dr. Albert de Villiers.

School teachers in the Central Okanagan will not be getting COVID-19 vaccinations as originally planned.
The vaccinations were supposed to be done April 1-5, but a notice from Interior Health Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers said a scheduling error means teachers will have to wait.
“Unfortunately, Interior Health's vaccine inventory is committed to people with booked appointments already in place for the same period,” said the email from de Villiers. “Regrettably, we are unable to accommodate the bookings we made in error.”
The email is dated April 1 and goes on to apologize for the “miscommunication.”
“School district staff remain prioritized among the provincial immunization plan and we hope to resume these immunizations in the near future,” de Villiers said in the email.
