Okanagan Clinical Trials is seeking anyone with moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease to participate in a research study

Okanagan Clinical Trials is seeking people who live with moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease to participate in a research study.

The medical research company from Kelowna will conduct the study to determine the effectiveness and safety of an investigational non-invasive home-use device, the Vielight Neuro RX Gamma.

“As the prevalence of Alzheimer’s dementia rises in the absence of a disease-modifying intervention, we welcome this clinical trial which aims to explore the therapeutic benefits of light therapy in the care of patients with Alzheimer’s dementia,” said Dr. Eugene Okorie, Principal Investigator.

Men and women aged 50 and older who have been diagnosed with the disease are eligible to take part in the study. Approximately 8-12 sites in Canada and the USA will participate in this clinical study, and participation in the study will last 24 weeks. All study-related care will be provided at no cost, and participants are free to opt out of the study at any time.

"Our clinic is encouraged and excited to see all the new potential therapies in clinical research for Alzheimer’s disease, including this current study looking at photobiomodulation or light therapy as a way to stop the progression of the disease," said Dr. Kim Christie, President of Okanagan Clinical Trials.
