FortisBC has planned a power outage on Friday in Rutland

One-hundred-seventy FortisBC customers in Rutland will be without power on Friday.

FortisBC needs to turn off power from 9:00 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m. west of Hollywood Road South between Springfield Road and Hwy 33 West.

The outage is required to conduct priority equipment maintenance and is part of the routine work Fortis does to maintain the system.

"We recognize the inconvenience to our customers and appreciate their patience and understanding as we complete the work as quickly and safely as possible," the company said.
