Okanagan Lake Boat Rentals launches water taxi

There’s a new way to get around the lake this summer in Kelowna.

Okanagan Lake Boat Rentals has launched its new water taxi service, a responsible way to get yourself from A to B while enjoying everything the Okanagan has to offer.

“The water taxi is great for tourists that come to town or locals that want to get out and experience the lake. Most groups head out to the Tiki Bar, so it’s an awesome opportunity if you want to cruise out there,” said co-owner Trent Redschlag.

“You get about a 40-minute boat ride from the downtown dock. You get to go out to the Tiki Bar, have a couple drinks and not have to worry about driving home.”

Available all summer long, the water taxi cruises into multiple locations for pickup and drop off, including Hotel Eldorado, Downtown at King Taps, the Tiki Bar at Lake Okanagan Resort, McKinley Beach, and Fintry.

“Just started getting going here just by private charters. This is our first weekend where we are going live on the website. Now it will run right through until the end of September, Thursday through Sunday with scheduled appointments and Monday through Wednesday upon appointment only,” said co-owner Branden Redschlag.

Some of its first guests filled the 11-passenger pontoon ahead of its official launch this weekend, and the reviews are coming in with two thumbs up.

“Amazing! It was really nice, easy getting on and off. And you know, we made it in, I don’t know, maybe 20 minutes to Kelowna. The guys are amazing, we had a wonderful time. We will definitely use them,” said Elizabeth Peralta.

Branden says they are striving to create a relaxing time for passengers.

“With the water taxi, we’re taking control of the driving, so you are able to sit back, have a beverage and enjoy your time on the water. Hassle free experience where you can just kick back and enjoy a laugh and pump the tunes if you like," said Branden.
