On the Street: Transit riders sound off on how a strike will impact them

Concerns over bus strike

Madison Erhardt

Kelowna Regional Transit workers have set a strike deadline of Oct. 5.

in a press release issues Wednesday, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1722 says it is "frustrated" by First Transit Canada’s "refusal to fix the city's broken transit system."

Workers on Wednesday set the deadline for a full work stoppage throughout the Central Okanagan.

Castanet News visited the Queensway bus loop to see how transit riders will be impacted.

"I need the bus every day because I study here. The strike is very terrible because I don't know taxi, or bike," a resident said.

"I don't have a vehicle so I rely on the bus," another added.
