It was an open-shut case for police in the Kootenays who pulled over a Kelowna man in a traffic stop.
RCMP say they were called on Sept. 25 at 9:39 a.m. for a report of a 30-year-old Kelowna man who was alleged to be driving his white Ford F150 while drunk on Highway 3B near Rossland, B.C.
An arriving officer found the man and his truck roadside.
Police say the officer detected an odour of liquor on the man’s breath and observed further indications the driver was drunk. The officer opened an impaired driving investigation.
“During the investigation, the man decided to relieve himself for an extended period in front of the officer,” said a police news release.
“After the man finished, a demand was read to the man, who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a fail.”
The Kelowna man was issued a 90-day immediate roadside suspension and had his vehicle impounded by up to 30 days.
“Some drivers appear to be more obviously impaired than others during investigations,” said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
