Symphony rolling through the valley with holiday special

It's almost time to get comfortable and joyous with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra these holidays.

On the nights of December 16, 17 and 18, the OSO will be performing their Comfort and Joy show in Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon, with the musical celebration featuring special guests Ken Lavigne and the Okanagan Children's Choir.

"Music is such an important part of celebrating the holidays and has been for centuries," said OSO music director Rosemary Thomson.

"Adding voices to orchestra is the ultimate way to sing in the season and I'm thrilled that BC's own Ken Lavigne will join the Okanagan Children's Choir and the OSO for our concert at this magical time of year."

The OSO says Lavigne has charmed his way into the hearts of concert goers across North America with his blend of classical tenor sound mixed with modern style.

"Ken has a gorgeous voice and charming stage presence, and I am so excited to share the stage with him. We have crafted a concert that will absolutely bring us all comfort and joy," added Thomson.

You can expect to see the orchestra, Lavigne and the children's choir sing classical holiday jingles like Let it Snow and Santas Coming to Town.

"I loved so many things about the holiday season: The eggnog, the lights, but I especially love the music and all the memories that come from this time of year," said Lavigne.

The OSO will play at the Kelowna Community Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16. The show will then carry on to Penticton for a viewing at the Cleland Community Theatre at 7:30 p.m. before stopping off in Vernon on Sunday, December 18 for a 2:00 p.m. show at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre.
