Support staff with Central Okanagan Public Schools have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.
Members of CUPE Local 3523 have voted in favour of the deal reached in late January, ending the threat of possible job action.
The deal has also been ratified by SD 23 through the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) under the Provincial Framework Agreement for support staff.
The Provincial Framework Agreement calls for general wage increases of $0.25 per hour, plus an additional 3.24%, retroactive to July 1, 2022.
They get another 5.5% on July 1, 2023, and up to 1.25% in Cost Of Living (COLA) adjustments. In year three, the wage increase is 2.0% on July 1, 2024, plus up to 1.0% COLA adjustment.
CUPE Local 3523 represents over 1,400 school support and clerical staff, bus drivers, custodians and education assistants in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland, and the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
