We are in this together

Re:Apology over cabin rant

Please know that your contributions (past, present and future) to the economy of the Shuswap is appreciated. At present this crisis we are currently faced with is not a regional issue, but rather world wide.

Many communities face similar as well as different issues and concerns when dealing with these changing times. A big issue we have here in the Shuswap area is that our first responders are shut down due to this pandemic and that is a huge loss to all of us, full time as well as seasonal residents. Personal distancing is important here, as it is in all communities. Not singling out seasonal or full time residents, there have been observations of individuals (with B.C. plates and plates from neighbouring province) not respecting personal distancing or sanitary practices which endangers all of us.

Unfortunately out here in "the country" we have no responsible authorities that respond to reports of such infractions. This is a health issue, to some more vulnerable than others, and is not a where taxes are paid issue, and one of the easiest ways to help control it is to reduce traffic in and out of the area. I think that the CSRD chair should have considered the issue of out of area property owners concern over high water issues and protection of their property prior to his statement. As frustrating as these times are for everyone, we are all in this together. Be safe. Be smart. Be kind.
