More thoughts on Walmart

I personally won't shop there anymore. The proof on the validity of hand made masks preventing virus infection is very sketchy - there are too many variables such as how you put it on, washing practices as well as the quality of material. True, it stops spittle from landing on other people, but if proper distancing procedures are followed, there should be no need, unless you are contagious and then you shouldn't be in the store anyway.

The new masking requirements are more of a way to reduce liability for the store to avoid possible lawsuits. If I'm in a place where I'm in close quarters with other unknown people, absolutely there are times when i will put a mask on, but mainly I pick times and places that are not busy to shop where it's not required. I have dealt with anxiety and panic attacks for years and i choose to not put myself in a situation where that can happen.

I actually went to Walmart today because they had brought in this rule.  I am immune compromised and therefore do not go into places that don't use masks so it's been months since I've been there. The issue was the poor gal at the door telling people it was mandatory to wear masks and the number of ridiculous people refusing —and then being let in!  Does anyone know what the word 'mandatory means'?

And a woman, a senior in fact, was refusing to wear one cuz she hates them!  Now, come on, we could all say that...but we aren't wearing them cuz they are fun...we wear them to reduce risk of viral spread.

And in she went saying she'll stay away from others.

So now I need to rethink what I had taken to be a safer place for me to shop.  If masks are mandatory — I'll be back.  If it's said but not done, I won't be.

Come on Walmart.  Let's do this!  If people don't want to wear masks — just say no.  For every person who won't come back to shop, there will be many who will because of this sensible rule.

It’s great to see Walmart taking COVID-19 seriously, I wish other stores in BC would follow suit. Science has proven that if everyone wore a mask we would be much safer. I wear a mask all the time when going into any stores.

I have contacted Save On and they replied that they wash and sanitize their hands plus disinfecting their equipment, how does that stop the spread of droplets from staff who won’t wear masks.

I fully support the wearing of masks at Walmart. They are making an effort to help contain the virus.
Too many people a down playing the seriousness of COVID-19. If we ignore the facts and boo-hoo it we will lose the battle. The virus is in control right now. To ignore it is a death sentence. I don't know why so many people think this way. When it happens to them it will be different, and it will if they continue to act this way it will just make it very much worse on everyone.

Walmart is doing the right thing to help all of us and I commend them for it. They are risking a lot because of all the fools out there.
