Does anyone know why the SPCA has had so few animals during the pandemic which is going on a year now? They seem to not be taking in animals that have no where to go unless by seizure and yet all the shelters are open with either part staff or full staff. It seems nonsense when I see people fundraising for them now. Why? If you look online the shelters only have a few cats or birds or rabbits. The average person may have more pets.
I get the Covid precautions but surely pets can be taken in and re homed with some sense of pre covid times. I myself adopted 3 budgies during this time and we did it safely. Maybe their shelters need to close and that money can be focused on cruelty because right now it does not seem like donations are well spent. Luckily many smaller independent rescues have ramped up efforts to help the dogs and cats.
