We live in a free country, which means we do get to decide what goes in our bodies. If one chooses to be un-vaccinated despite recommendations otherwise, that is within your rights.
Rather than having the heavy hand of government force folks to get vaccinated, perhaps there's a free-market solution. Simply put, if one is unvaccinated, though medically-able, and catches COVID requiring treatment then MSP should be waived and those individuals can pay out of pocket. If one can't pay, they'd still get care, but they'd likely be in receivership.
This has plenty of precedent. For instance, the private uninsurability of smokers and drug users, two conditions doctors similarly advise against.
Our medical system also has the ability to bill folks not covered by MSP. So no new systems would need to be put in place.
Dollars recovered could be used to boost funding for nurses, expand vaccine access or simply reduce government spending.
Let people's convictions be led with their own wallet.
