Golf's popularity confirmed

Re. Golf’s soaring popularity clashing with shortage of land in Kelowna (Castanet, May 18)

This article really clashes with what City of Kelowna planner Robert Miles said, in an article published in Castanet on May 5, where he stated interest in golf is on the decline across North America as lot of golf courses “wind up and shut down.”

So our wise city planner bases his theory “across North America” not on local realities? Then the question begs, are there any studies done locally to determine the actual situation in Kelowna?

If not, how can a planner make such a statement, without providing a local study, as the reason for a potential change in use?

Robert Hepting, Kelowna
