Re. Blind couple had to find own way to Salmon Arm because of guide dogs I.D. (June 25)
It’s possible the requirement to certify and licence a service dog was based on a single incident and a single complaint and a knee-jerk response by some bureaucrat looking for more ways to control us. Or maybe not.
However, where is morality, understanding and compassion in situations like this? Have we become automatons with no innate sense of decency? Where is the empathy for these elderly people, courageously going out into an uncertain world and relying on their dog for protection?
That all the passengers on the bus didn’t stand up in support and demand that the driver let them bring their dog on and declare that they accepted the risk, even if the driver wouldn’t, is an indication of how far our humanity has slipped.
