Re. 'Stupid' response time (Castanet, Nov. 26)
In response the owner of the hair salon who claims her customer will have a brain injury due to the poor response time by EHS (ambulance), I would like to point out, CPR, including rescue breathing, is very effective at supplying the brain (with) required oxygen.
As well, the fact that Kelowna Fire Department (first responders) were on scene in six minutes tells me the patient would have been given supplemental (oxygen) with breathing assisted by a bag valve mask quite quickly.
I agree that having those three (ambulances) out of service, is ludicrous, but I think it is unfair to blame the outcome of this situation on that.
I encourage everyone to take a basic CPR course, as one person can be the difference.
