What a surprise, the corner of Sexsmith and Highway 97 (in Kelowna) has the highest crash rate in the city.
That corner has, I believe, the shortest left turn light with the highest volume in the city as well. Everyday hundreds of vehicles run the amber and red lights (there), mostly turning left because only five vehicles, at best, can make the turn on the green (light) from the highway onto Sexsmith.
The city and province must be aware of this but have never set up red light cameras there or done any other enforcement.
I suppose it is easier to report the accident rate than try and fix the cause.
