Stop beach burning

Re. Fire pits On Lakeshore Drive in Penticton

Where are all the people who want clean air by using the bike lane and getting more cars off the road? OK, that is cool but now can you also take up the cause of open burning fires on Okanagan Lake in Penticton.

These fires create more pollution than all the cars that travel on Lakeshore Drive all day long. These fires start in the evenings and burn until the police are called, (usually between) 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. The people are burning skids, which have toxic materials like glue in them.

Where is the battle cry to stop this pollution? Would the bike riders like to ride by a large fire, creating tons of smoke and air pollution? We may as well have forest fires all year round.

So. let’s hear from you and get this pollution-creating monster stopped ASAP.
