Major watermain rupture in Peachland repaired

Watermain rupture fixed

UPDATE 8 a.m.

Water is again flowing in Peachland after repairs to a broken watermain were completed.

The municipality announced on Facebook Tuesday at 11 p.m. that the repairs were done and water pressure in the system was being restored.

"Thank you for your patience," said the District of Peachland.

ORIGINAL 6 p.m.

Taps in Peachland are running nearly dry due to a major watermain break.

The municipality said on social media crews are dealing with a break in the upper Princeton Avenue area.

“The repair requires a reduction in water pressure at the treatment plant to attempt the repair without shutting the water off completely. This will reduce water pressure throughout the district,” the municipality said on Facebook.

Residents are asked to reduce the use of water for now.

A Peachland resident tells Castanet she started noticing lagging water pressure about 30 minutes ago, and her taps are now at a trickle. Other residents in the Ponderosa area say they are without water completely.

“At this point, the district is unsure how long this repair will take or what further steps are required,” the municipality said.
