A car that crashed into Okanagan Lake near Peachland last week remains in the water.
The red Cadillac crashed off Highway 97 into Okanagan Lake on the evening of Dec. 27. The four occupants, including two small children, made it out of the car, but a witness said a man and woman were taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
As of Thursday, nine days after the crash, the car remains in the lake.
“The company that's supposed to tow it out is waiting until it's not so icy. I guess with the cold weather and wind coming off the lake, it's pretty icy there,” said RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera.
A Castanet reader sent in a photo of the submerged car with a police cruiser on scene Thursday afternoon, but Const. Della-Paolera confirms it's the same car that went in the lake last week.
“We've had several calls on it, so every time a call comes in, an officer has to go out and make sure it's the same car,” he said.
It's not clear when the car will be towed from the lake.
