More Emergency Funding

Four families forced from their homes more than two weeks ago will continue to receive emergency assistance.

The Provincial Emergency Program says they will extend the emergency assistance for the four families of the Gabion Court townhouse complex who have yet to find alternative accommodations, for another week.

The benefits, which were to have run out July 21, will now be extended until July 28.

Residents in 11 units were forced from their homes July 6 after a rainstorm brought muddy water into their backyards.

It could be a few months before the area is safe for residents to return to their homes.
