Sandcastle Contest Results

These aren't your average sandcastles.

The 23rd Skaha Rotary Sandcastle Competition took place on Thursday night at Skaha Lake Park in Penticton. Despite the bad weather, about a dozen teams signed up to play in the sand.

For the first time, a People's Choice Category was added, allowing the public to vote for their favourite creation. Funds raised from the selling of ballots went to support local charities.

The winners are:

Kids (12 and under) went to the group called Highly Competitive for their Octopus and a Turtle sculpture.

Youth (13-17 years) went to The Ogopogo Riders group for their Peach Fest sculpture.

The Family award went to the Blaine family for their sculpture called “The Beach.”

The Business award went to Totally Insand for their entry inspired by the summer blockbuster, “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

The first People's Choice Award went to Sprott-Shaw Community College for their sculpture “Pirates treasure.”
