Quist Family Update

Things are getting better for the Quist family.

The Summerland family was involved in a head-on crash late last month and have been recovering ever since.

Three-year-old Josh Dyck is in Vancouver Children's Hospital, paralyzed from the chest down.

Family friend Lynn Stearns says he is doing better.

“He is able to communicate by non-verbal actions. He smiles a lot. Doctors are assessing the movement in his arms,” says Stearns.

She says his parents, Westley and Bernice Quist, are still recovering in Kelowna General Hospital.

“Wes has had the surgery on his left foot and it went well. Bernice is continuing to get stronger,” says Stearns.

She says a fund raiser has been planned for this weekend.

“Shaughnessy's Cove in Summerland is doing an all-day fund raiser for us on November 19. There will be a silent auction and a full buffet style brunch. What makes this so wonderful is everything has been donated, from the food to the auction items. All money will go to help the family,” says Stearns.

Tickets for the brunch are $10, tickets for the dinner are $30. Both are available at Shaughnessy's Cove.
