Tree House Fire

A tree house was destroyed by fire Wednesday night.

Just before 6 p.m. the Penticton Fire Department responded to a call on Ellis Street.

Deputy Fire Chief, Dave Spalding, says they arrived to find the structure completely engulfed.

“It was on the ground and the fire had spread to a grassy area around it. The fire was put out very quickly because it was a very small structure,” says Spalding.

He says there is no way to tell what caused the fire.

“There was no heating source in the structure, and it was completely destroyed so there is nothing left to investigate,” says Spalding.

He says the home belonged to young boy.

“He was not at home at the time of the fire, he was at a friend's house,” says Spalding.

He says there will be no investigation because there is no dollar loss and no insurance claim involved.
