It’s an unusual way for a father and son to bond, but two Summerland men are really looking forward to getting shaved.
Audie and Tayber Yastreski are planning to take part in the Shave for the Brave fundraiser event by the B.C. Children’s Hospital April 21 in Vancouver.
The event raises money for the oncology and haematology wards.
Tayber’s mother, Rita, says her son was diagnosed with a blood disorder when he was eight-years-old.
She says for seven years, Tayber wasn’t allowed to play contact sports and the family had to make many trips to Vancouver for treatment.
Tayber, 22, is now able to be more active. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Penticton Fire Service last summer and is currently a Geophysics student at the University of Victoria.
Donations can be made online.
